History

The KEI-week has been a widely known term in Groningen for over 55 years! In 1969 Groningen was firstly introduced to the KEI-week, however it was in a completely different form than today. At that time, there was an increasing demand for a general introduction week for first-year students. A group of students then decided to meet that need. They organized an introduction period, during which the first-year students of the city of Groningen were welcomed and informed about their new living environment. In 1972 Stichting KEI was established for this purpose. Initially, only first-year students from the University of Groningen could participate in the KEI-week. Since 1971, students of the Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen are also welcome to participate in the KEI-week!
