When will the KEI-week be held?antwoord» sluiten

The KEI-week will be held from Monday the 13th of august up to and including the 17th of august.

What does 'KEI' stand for?antwoord» sluiten

KEI stands for “Kommissie Eerstejaars Introduktie” , which can be translated as “The commission for the introduction of first-year students”. The KEI-week is the general introduction week for all the incoming students that are going to follow a higher education. (HBO or University) The KEI-week is the oldest, largest and cheapest introduction week in Groningen.

Can you join the same KEI-group as a friend?antwoord» sluiten

Yes, it is possible to sign up with a friend for the KEI-week. Mention this during your registration and you will be placed in the same KEI-group. Your KEI-group will consist of a total of 12 freshman students and two senior KEI-leaders.


Can the KEI-week be seen as an initiation?antwoord» sluiten

No, not at all! You should see the KEI-week primarily as something that is just a lot of fun to do. It is a week full of information, activities and parties. Signing up for the KEI-week does not mean you are obligated to go to the events. You are free to go where you please and choose which events you want to attend.

Is there a possibility to stay over if you do not have a room yet?antwoord» sluiten

Via this website it is possible to get a place to sleep during the KEI-week. You can choose to apply for the Sleep-in, but you can also search for a student house with a spare room using this form.

The costs differ a lot. For the Sleep-in, you can choose between the Sleep-in at the Usva (€30), the Simplon Youth Hotel (€75) or Budd Gett Hostels (€90).
For the student houses, there is a maximum price of €25 for the housing and an additional €5 for breakfast.

What does the KEI-week cost?antwoord» sluiten

The price for registration is only €24,-: the cheapest introduction week in Holland! You can also apply during the KEI-week, this will cost €27,-. Registering gains you access to all our events. Next to this, you will get a free meal, a KEI-bag, and much more. Keep in mind that you will need some additional money for food and drinks, the KEI foundation will provide coupons that will enable you to buy consumptions for reduced prices.

Who organizes the KEI-week?antwoord» sluiten

The KEI-week is organized by the Board of Directors consisting of 7 students. They are supported by the Supervisory Board and starting from May 7 Event Managers will be assigned to help the Board of Directors with their tasks. During the KEI-week an additional 150 KEI-crew and 700 KEI-leaders are involved to make the KEI-week possible.

Who can sign up for the KEI-week?antwoord» sluiten

The KEI-week is meant for all first year students of the University of Groningen, Hanze University Groningen, Obstetric Academy, Christian School NL Netherlands and HBO-NL. Pre-Master’s or Master’s students are also more than welcome!

What is the deadline for registration?antwoord» sluiten

Online registration stays open until the 13th of August. During the KEI-week you can sign up on Monday during Day Registration If you are not able to sign up on Monday, visit the KEI-building at Sint Walburgstraat 22 during the rest of the week.

What does the KEI-week have to offer?antwoord» sluiten

During the KEI-week you get to know all the different aspects of Groningen. The KEI-week provides general information about room rental and student grants. You can also get in touch with sports organisations, student societies and other sorts of associations. Besides all this there will be a lot of parties and other fun activities such as the Movie on the Vismarkt and a lot of great workshops.

Can I start later with the KEI-week (because of work or holidays)?antwoord» sluiten

Yes, that is possible! You should come to the KEI-pand (Sint Walburgstraat 22, Groningen) on the day you will arrive. There you will get your KEI-wristband, KEI-bag, and KEI-information. They will also place you in a KEI-group.
